Diane Coogan was most recently the Chief Risk Officer of The Navigators Group, Inc. where she was responsible for overseeing the monitoring, control, quantification, reporting and capital allocation relating to underwriting, investment, credit, finance, operational, governance and emerging risks.
Prior to Navigators, Diane was the Director of Risk Management and Associate Dean at Queens College, CUNY, where she founded the graduate program in Risk Management and served as a full-time faculty member. Concurrently with Queens College, Diane was an Investment Consultant for The Navigators Group, Inc. and during the crisis and the aftermath, helped the portfolio earn positive total returns.
Diane was formerly Managing Director at Swiss Re, generating significant profits for the firm leading highly structured reinsurance transactions. Prior to Swiss Re, Diane was a portfolio manager for a private equity fund, and was also a portfolio manager for a hedge fund dedicated to financial services. She ran the Market Analysis and Forecasting group at AT&T until 1997, before moving to PricewaterhouseCoopers to originate and manage corporate finance and risk management engagements for financial institutions. Diane began her career at the World Bank and earned her PhD at Boston University.
