Saul Basch

Saul Basch served as the Vice-Chairman, CFO, and Treasurer at HSB Group, Inc. for seventeen years during which the company experienced an aggregate combined ratio below 80% and ROE in excess of more than 20%.  He was responsible for all financial functions including financial reporting, actuarial reserving, product pricing reviews, capital management, investments, integrated risk management, and internal controls, and managed investor relations.

Prior to HSB Group, Inc., Saul was the NY Metro Leader/Senior Partner at Coopers and Lybrand where he managed the largest public accounting insurance industry practice.  Earlier, he was a Director of The Navigators Group, Inc. where he served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and member of the Audit Committee from August 2012 until May 2019.

Saul was a long-standing member of the Executive Committee of both the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the Connecticut Science Museum; a member of the Audit and Finance Committee of the Hartford Seminary.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1971 and is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany.
